The Oro Chamber Business Development Centre was inaugurated in the Pueblo de Oro Township on May 19, 2008.
The Business Development Centre was dedicated and inaugurated in simple ceremonies. PODC VP and General Manager Rudy Meñes, who is the incumbent Chamber President, gave the welcome remarks and directed the ribbon cutting, which was participated in by Cagayan de Oro Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula and officials of PUM Netherlands Senior Experts. PUM (Programma Uitzending Managers) is the largest Dutch business outreach program with 4,000 senior experts from various fields providing consultancy services to fledgling firms in developing countries. The organization has donated a training room for the Business Development Centre.
We will turn our focus on Northern Mindanao because there are lots of potentials here," said PUM country director Ton Hens.
For his part, Mayor Jaraula stated, “Cagayan de Oro has grown by leaps and bounds due to the activism manifested by the local private sector throughout all these years."
The Centre broke ground in 2006 at a 2,800 property donated by Pueblo de Oro along Macapagal Drive. Among the words etched on the plaque placed prominently at the entrance of the building are: “Built on the land donated by the Pueblo de Oro Development Corporation under the leadership of its Chairman and CEO Guillermo D. Luchangco.
